Christian Faith Writings

Welcome to CFW ...

In Luke 19:27-40 Jesus’ followers were rejoicing and praising God with a loud voice for His mighty works; the Pharisees protested but Jesus said, "If my followers don’t praise Me, then the stones of earth will cry out."

Some shout His praises, some sing His praises, and some write His praises but it all comes from hearts full and overflowing with love and praises for God Almighty. He is an awesome God and He will always deserve our love and praise for His mighty works.

That is what this website is all about – rejoicing about and praising God for His mighty works through an assortment of writings.

"Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!"  Psalm 150:6.

An Abundance of Miracles

Betsy was spending time reading her bible and praying when she sensed something was not right. She felt as though she needed to say a special prayer for her son, Daniel. She told the Lord she didn’t know what was wrong but to please be with her son and help him in whatever way he needed help.

Daniel went to a private Christian school in the city about forty-five minutes away from the small town they lived in. Carter, her husband, worked in the city so most of the time he took Daniel to school and brought him home.

This was the day when Betsy usually went to Denise’s house for a Bible Study. Denise was not able to leave her home because of some health problems so the study had to be at her home each week. So Betsy placed everything in God’s Hands and set off to Denise’s house.

They had just finished the study when Denise’s phone rang. It was Carter and he told Betsy that Daniel had been injured in an accident at school and was being taken to the hospital. Betsy felt a heaviness in her heart and knew this was what the morning’s uneasiness had been all about. It really shook her. Her son was an only child and she treasured him as a special gift from God as she was not suppose to have been able to have any children.

She told Denise what had happened and that she would need to leave and get to the hospital. To Betsy’s surprise, Denise told her that she was not going to let her drive all that distance by herself, she was going to drive her instead. This was quite a declaration as Denise was totally uncomfortable leaving her home and she really didn’t like driving on the freeway at all. So Betsy protested but Denise was adamant.

The miracles had begun!

Enjoying Fellowship with God

We hurry here and we hurry there.
So much to do and so little time to do it.
We wear ourselves out with the hustle
and bustle of life.

God created us to fellowship with Him.
But we give that very little thought.
He calls to us to come aside and spend
time with Him.
To refresh ourselves in sweet ...

Trusting in God

"What time I am afraid, I will trust in the Lord." Psalm 56:3

With these uncertain times, fear likes to come knocking at our door but we must refuse to open the door and let it in. Instead we need to open God’s Word and see what He has to say about it all.

God’s Word encourages us to trust in the Lord no matter what is happening in our lives. And it is honest with us and lets us know that we will be tempted to fear but we must resist the temptation and trust God instead. The Word tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7 that the spirit of fear is not from God. What He gives to us is His Spirit of power, love, and soundness of mind.

A Genuine Relationship

Matt – a young man who wants to know what it means to have a genuine relationship with God

Shari – a good friend who is willing to tell him what it means and what he must do to have that kind of a relationship.

Scene One

The scene opens with Matt and Shari sitting on the couch talking.

Matt: Are you sure you don’t want to go to Eric’s party tonight?

Shari: Yes, I’m sure.

Matt: Why don’t you like Eric?

Shari: Oh, it isn’t Eric that I don’t like, it’s his earthly ways that I don’t like.

Matt: But doesn’t he claim to be a Christian?

Shari: He says he is but his words and actions don’t bear witness to his claim.

Matt: He goes to church all the time.

Shari: That doesn’t make him a Christian, only a church-goer.

Matt (looking puzzled): Why would someone who is not a Christian want to go to church?

Shari: There are a lot of different reasons.

Matt: Such as?
